João Medina
João Medina is manager of the Portuguese Innovation Society, specializing in the areas of regional development and innovation promotion.
Throughout his professional career, he has collaborated in project development and management for different types of institutions, be they the private sector (Companies, Business Associations), the public sector (Municipalities, Government Agencies, Educational Institutions) or international institutions (European Union , World Bank).
João Medina has considerable international experience, particularly in Angola, Brazil, China (where he lived during 2007) and the United States (where he lived in 2000).
Since 2013, João Medina has been a specialist in the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy (DG Regio) in the area of urban development.
João Medina holds a Master’s Degree in Urban Environment Planning and Design from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (2006), having done his dissertation on the theme of Regional Innovation Strategies, in which he presented different articles and communications.
João Medina has an in-depth knowledge of Bragança, the Lands of Trás-os-Montes and their main actors. In recent years he has participated and coordinated a wide range of projects of significant relevance to the development of this region.
